What This Is

Well, you may be wondering, "Just what have I stumble on, here?" And, a worthy question it is since ever I am not yet sure where we are ultimately going to go with this site. The potential is there for any number of topics that could be addressed. To point: saving whales, whale tourism, whale education, whale hunting, the history of the Navy's A-3 Skywarrior (nicknamed The Whale), or a topic entirely unrelated, like toy boats for kids. Finally, but not in the least, this could be a jump off point for something yet not discovered. Input is welcome and so is help and advice. Drop a line if you have any good ideas.

Japanese whalers claim that their hunting and harvesting of whales is in the interest of science. Oddly, though, just how there is a connection between the two never seems to be addressed in any way that seems to justify their perennial continuation of this pratice. Some news outlets have even mentioned that due to the excessive numbers of whales taken, whale meat is in surplus and is sent to schools (as food) and even used in pet food.

Skywarriors Continue to Serve

These aircraft are active and currently with Raytheon Systems Company. (formerly Hughes Aircraft Co.). These are used as testbeds for weapons research. A few A-3s are on hand as spare parts.

Remarkable! It's great to know that I may still have one last chance to see one of these fine birds fly. What a tribute to it's utility after all these decades.
